The Spirit of "NGAYAH"

In Bali there are many kinds of religion activity. As the tourisms see in Bali, villages are live with their "Yadnya". It seems they born for making/doing Yadnya, such "Banten" and other materials. Maybe you thing "Banten" is a food present to Gods (maybe the guides explain in that version). But you are wrong! "Banten" is not a food present to Gods, it is a symbol, for the example "Pejati" is a symbol of universe. Hindu's pray to God for the save and health of the universe not to pray for him/her self. "Pejati" is a small part of Banten and a lot kind of materials are needed when a bigger ceremonial held. Do you know how they do it ?
The answer is "Ngayah". I cannot find similar word to define the word "Ngayah" in English. Ngayah is the real implementation of devotion to the God. We are making Yadnya's materials such "Banten" without expecting any rewards or honor. We dedicate our skill, ability, power to God by "Ngayah". A Policeman arranging a traffic, a painter, carver, carpenter, architect, fix the temple buildings, Chef making a food for participant, etc.
This is reality that you will find when you visit Bali. I can explain this because I am one of them. I feel peaceful always after.
Villagers of Desa Pakraman Batuan proof their devotion to God by presenting the biggest ceremony event called "Karya Agung Mamungkah, Ngenteg Linggih, Ngusaba Desa lan Ngusaba Nini" held on September 2009.

Karya Agung titled "Karya Ngenteg Linggih Memungkah, Tawur Agung Ngusaba Desa dan Ngusaba Nini" is the biggest religion ceremony ever.
The ceremonial will held on September 2009, the procession has been started on June 2009, by "Matur Piuning" (inform) on June, 7 2009. Pray for God's. Wishing our health and safety during the ceremony.

The leader of "Matur Piuning" ceremony is Ida Pedanda from Gria Selat Celuk. And held in temple Pura Desa lan Puseh Desa Pakraman Batuan followed by hundreds of villagers.

Batuan Village News and Updates

Batuan is one of villages in Bali. Village or Desa Batuan is located in Gianyar Regency, about 30 minutes to International Ngurah Rai airport, and about 15 kilometers south of Ubud.

I proud to be a villagers of Batuan.Desa Batuan or Batuan Village is a center of Balinese artist. Most of villagers is an artist . They are painters, carvers, silversmith, goldsmith, Balinese dancer, puppeteers, traditional music (gong) players, etc.

There are lot of famous artist from Batuan. You maybe heard about I Made Djimat. He has been around the world for a long time. He is Indonesian emissary.
I Wayan Bendi is a famous painter. From the history, Batuan has a unique style of painting. So that the painter around the world familiar with Batuan style.

My father, mother, my (deceased) grand father, uncles, aunts, my little brother as well. All are painter. You may say we live from Tourism activity.
